Thank you very much for the great trust and interest in the 5-evening passes - they are now sold out!
The diversity of languages is one of several common threads running through the 29th edition of Glatt&Verkehrt.
Our wish list includes linguistic forms as diverse as Irish Gaelic, Catalan, Estonian, Hungarian, Portuguese and Viennese. Apart from this European palette, we want to bring sound colours from the USA, Mexico or Afghanistan to the Wachau and the surrounding area.
Black music traditions are juxtaposed with ideas from Eastern Europe. The 100th birthday of Ernst Jandl will be commemorated as well as the Jewish heritage of legendary pop songs. Harp meets button accordion. Musical cabaret after jazz orchestra.
This large number of idioms naturally raises the question of how we can overcome language barriers. On the other hand: during the construction of the Tower of Babel, the common original language probably ensured problem-free communication within the construction team, but as we all know, the story didn't end well.
So Glatt&Verkehrt prefers to indulge in a lively Babylonian linguistic confusion!
Concerts, table music, a music workshop and children's programme bring the cultural idioms to the point in the most diverse ways.
The established, wonderful venues are available for this: Schloss zu Spitz, Göttweig Abbey, Winzer Krems, Wirtshaus Salzstadl, Klangraum Krems Minoritenkirche.
Our festival partner Ö1 will once again be on site at Winzer Krems on the five evenings and will broadcast the majority of the programme live.
First details regarding the programme as well as day tickets are to be available in Spring 2025.
