Since 1997 the annual Glatt&Verkehrt festival relives the magic and joy of discovering unusual and exceptional musical talent. It attracts distinctive and exciting music projects from the farthest corners of the globe to visit the Wachau region and Krems in Lower Austria. In the meantime around 5000 visitors attend the festival every year. From the outset the festival established its base at the Winzer Krems, Sandgrube 13, and it now includes many other wonderful venues. All visiting artists share one thing in common: an exploration of their musical roots – whether traditional folk music, jazz, classical or avant-garde. Since the beginning of the festival co-organizer Ö1, Austrian public broadcaster ORF’s radio station, has recorded every concert at the Winzer and aired many live shows. Since 2018, Glatt&Verkehrt has been under the artistic direction of Albert Hosp and his curator Johann Kneihs.

The next edition will take place from 12–28 July 2024: 12–14 July at the Spitz Castle and 24–28 July at the Winzer Krems.
