Since 1997 the annual Glatt&Verkehrt festival relives the magic and joy of discovering unusual and exceptional musical talent. It attracts distinctive and exciting music projects from the farthest corners of the globe to visit the Wachau region and Krems in Lower Austria. In the meantime more than 5000 visitors attend the festival every year. From the outset the festival established its base at the Winzer Krems, Sandgrube 13, and it now includes many other wonderful venues. All visiting artists share one thing in common: an exploration of their musical roots – whether traditional folk music, jazz, classical or avant-garde.
Since the beginning of the festival co-organizer Radio Ö1, Austrian public broadcaster ORF’s radio station, has recorded every concert at the Winzer and aired many live shows.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the 24th edition of the Glatt&Verkehrt festival 2020 could not take place in the planned form.

From July 22–26 in Krems, we organised small-scale concert evenings and afternoon events. In this way, there could at least be a hint of that festival feeling we all cherish in Krems and the surroundings since 1997.

Our longstanding festival partner Radio Ö1 broadcasted all concerts despite the exceptional situation this year.
