Music like you’ve never heard it before! Some elements sound amazingly familiar: lightning, piercing “white” voices that we know from Eastern Europe, from Poland to Bulgaria. Then, deep droning sounds that create a continuum with all kinds of harmonies rising above it. And rhythms that are just funky. The final line-up showcases instruments from the Balkans to Australia – all have been heard somewhere before, but not in this enthralling combination.
DakhaBrakha was formed when the world fixed its attention on Ukraine at the height of the “Orange Revolution”. DAKH is the name of a leading independent theatre in Kiev. Dakhabrakha means “give” and “take”.
The quartet has been a popular international band for almost a decade. It presents more than just concerts. It puts on staged, choreographed performances from London’s Barbican Centre to New York’s Carnegie Hall – and now also at the Winzern Krems!
